Overview
Sophie Callander Consulting is the public practice site for an independent mediator and Workplace Fairness Analyst based in British Columbia, Canada. It serves organizations and individuals dealing with workplace conflict who are evaluating a practitioner before making contact — a decision driven by trust rather than feature comparison.
Visitors can read four distinct service descriptions, follow a narrative journey section, review verified qualifications and memberships, read an FAQ, browse blog articles pulled live from a headless CMS, and reach a contact page with a booking link. Every surface is published in seven languages — English, French, Spanish, Punjabi, Hindi, Simplified Chinese and Persian — with Persian rendering the entire layout right-to-left.
The scale of the work is concentrated in correctness rather than surface area: seven fully translated locales across eight route types, a type-enforced translation system, and a comprehensive structured-data and crawler-access layer.
The challenge
An independent practitioner competing on trust has no brand to lean on: the website is the credibility. The practice serves a multilingual population — workplace conflict frequently involves people whose first language is Punjabi, Hindi, Mandarin, Persian, Spanish or French — and an English-only site excludes exactly the participants a mediator most needs to reach.
An earlier state of the codebase also carried SEO defects severe enough to keep the site out of search results: every page declared a canonical pointing at the homepage, robots and sitemap requests returned server errors, hreflang rendered no tags, and there was no structured data at all. The system resolves this with per-route metadata resolution computing canonical, seven hreflang alternates and social URLs from a path each page declares for itself — something the layout provably cannot do, because it does not know its child route.
Translation correctness is enforced by the compiler: the English dictionary is the type source of truth and all six other locales are typed against it, so a missing key fails type checking in CI before it can ship a blank string.
